Growing pains

Redesigning my blog - just because I'm the type of person who rearranges furniture every few weeks.

IE seems to be fine with relative widths in CSS, why not Mozilla and Safari? Am I missing something? Must I resort to tables?

(I know, I know, as an IT professor I should be ashamed - but in my defense, my specialty is visual design and HCI) and, hey, I'm learning.

Hep me, hep me pleeeeze.

*Update: Hrmmm...Who has a three column layout?
I looked at Jill.txt's style sheet and now have a clue. Yup, placement by % is no good right now.
And the tweak goes on.

**Return of the update: Done

**Revenge of the update: Just because I wanted a sequel to the update

It's cuz you're using the linksleft ID instead of links...#linksleft is off setting itself from the left. Just change the div right where your links starts to <div id="links"> and it should do it...

your background color is gone too, but it might return by the time I post this comment :)

#Linksleft is correct. That's defining the left column, and #links defines the right column. (In IE it looks the way it should).

And the background color is gone. I'm going with white for a while.

The problem I'm having is that in Mozilla and Safari all three columns are one on top of each other.

I like the new look.

I am using IE (windows) and I am getting the overlap. Can't really read the blog anymore, but I like the design so much I often come here just to look at it.

On my mac it's good in IE, Safari and Mozilla. Thanks for the heads up!

Time to hit a PC.

It looks fine in Opera, Mozilla/Galeon and Konqueror for Linux (and is as interesting as ever, of course :). Having had my share of trouble making three-column blogs without resorting to [shudder!] tables, I think you've done a great job.

Thanks! Eirik.

I went to check your blog, and, alas, my languages are limited to English, American Sign Language (which would be an interesting blog format - but no time soon), and Tagalog related to food, gossip and child rearing.

I guess I haven't written it anywhere on the blog page, but it is in Norwegian, a language far less widespread than Tagalog (and American Sign Language for that matter :)

Learning French is trivial: the word for horse is cheval, and
everything else follows in the same way.

If a little knowledge is dangerous, where is a man who has so much as to be out of danger?

Metaphysics is the finding of bad reasons for what we believe upon instinct, but to find these reasons is no less an instinct.
