Focusing on the immediate moments for now, as that is as much energy as I can muster.

Those that have the ability to conquer the world must have either
(a) plenty of gumption
(b) a really good bunch of folks behind them to prop them up, hold their hand and cheer them on
or
(c) relentless devils.

I am impressed by the plurality of the listing (both in the ennumeration of the list and the plural or collective in every item on the list). I knew it that you was a reading a little Bourdieu as suggested by Liz. She has a thread going on “power” and someone contributed:

Having spent several months reading J.M. Roberts'
History of the World I am pretty sure no one has ever conquered the world.

But then I am only up to the consolidation of the European nations from the feudal stew.
