alarmed

This is just to say that I'm alarmed that Planned Obsolescence is not resolving.

Wouldn't be as perturbed if the last entry I read earlier today hadn't said that Kathleen had her bags packed in the event of evacuation, or been preceded by descriptions of ash falling from the sky.

So hopefully this is about the servers being down, and not Kathleen being out.

Send good vibes to all good people everywhere.

I had the same thought. But I believe she's hosted on a commercial server, which could be located anywhere in the country. And her faculty homepage on the college server (presumably located on campus) is still up.

Which is to say "Here's hoping."

George, I just did the same check and have now found your comment here.

Elouise, Kathleen noted earlier today that she was ready to evacuate if need be.

someday the information society may have such redunant systems that KF could blog wireless from anywhere... no link rot, no email outage, broadly available broadband

just one way of channeling the good vibes you called for

She's back up. Hurray.

Although no updates...

Wow -- thanks for watching so closely today. I'm back, as Jason notes, and updating again. All appears to be well. I have no idea what happened to my hosting provider today -- they're located somewhere in the LA area, so it could have been as simple as a loss of power. Actually, that's what I suspect, considering they finally did get everything restored.

I'm more moved by this than I can possibly tell you...

Whew.

Very glad. We got your back, girlfriend.

A priest was walking along the cliffs at Dover when he came
upon two locals pulling another man ashore on the end of a rope.
That's what I like to see, said the priest, A man helping his fellow
man.
As he was walking away, one local remarked to the other, Well,
he sure doesn't know the first thing about shark fishing.
