Courtesy of Lessig Blog, this 30 second political ad contest has some well done ads that you will likely never see on TV.
Posted by weez at January 5, 2004 03:09 PM | TrackBackIf indeed no one ever sees the MoveOn ads on tv, who then will they influence? If our newspapers aren't putting up a credible challenge to Bush's lies, whom do we have as advocates other than the democratic candidates? And whom will they be able to convince? They are playing so many games and bickering so loudly that people who might otherwise care are turning away.
I admire the sentiments expressed in the ads, and their anger inspires mine, but I'm a liberal, surrounded by my circle of liberals, but these enclaves are in turn surrounded by a huge mass of lazy, poisoned, or enzombied minds that either don't care or support Bush's policies.
What's going to make the difference? What's going to convince the masses that the Bush administration is tearing out the floorboards beneath our future? And that we can vote the bastards out of office? What will create enough momentum to turn the tide? Or do we all turn cynical like the clip art people in "Get Your War On"? (http://www.mnftiu.cc/mnftiu.cc/war29.html)
Sometimes I fear we're preaching to the choir and these heartfelt messages are heard only by those who are already convinced that things are drastic. Whom are we changing, really, when our politicians and our public media are too scared to stand up to the bullies in office? Look at Bush's popularity. What's going to topple him? I don't know, I just keep hoping something will undo him. And even then, we'll have hell to pay for the foul deeds that have already been done in our name.
Posted by: ray orkwis at January 5, 2004 04:31 PMThe ads will be shown only in swing states. So they will be shown - hopefully to great effect. MoveOn has a limited budget, so they're targeting ads to where they'll most count.
They have a voter fund at
