Things kept in secret have a greater power than they would have than if they were out in the open.
In secret, information becomes a commodity, a source of shame, a source of power, something to actively hold back, valued because it is held so tightly.
It - whatever it is - becomes something other than what by simply being it would be.
Posted by weez at January 15, 2004 12:00 AM | TrackBackWe were in NYC over the weekend. Saturday's temp was -2, with the wind chill it was -17, just 3 degrees shy of frostbite temps. Walking up Broadway that last block to The Strand bookstore I would have believed we had hit that magical -20 degrees.
Stay warm. Warmth, in the midst of such cold, is a wonderful thing.
Images from the weekend are starting to be posted on the blog: http://www.livejournal.com/users/fivecats
(And garlic fried rice sounds incredibly good. The Tsokolate sounds great, too. Meanwhile, I'll make due in my office with my Celestial Seasons Chai -- since someone failed to post some better specifics on making Chai...) :-)
