Implications

It's Poetry Month and Poem in Your Pocket Day.
From this end of the world I present a few poems by Chan McKenzie from IMPLICATIONS, 1983.

Come Get Them

There are some principle doubts

some nagging, unanswered questions.
There are some bad feelings
and a certain amount of anger.
There are tears.
There is rage,
and there is still the bitch in me
to contend with.

Yes,
I do believe
you may have left a few things behind.

Come get them.

Two Beats

My heart skipped two beats
when I heard you'd moved
left town
and no forwarding address
Though maintaining my composure
I could feel my smile
fade to despair
as I realized
we had grown so far apart
that I was no longer considered
among your good-byes

From One Player, to Another

Honey,
take your one night stand,

your blaise aires,
your seductive smile,
that open-necked shirt,...
and all those other lovers
that you've been hinting about
for the last thre hours - -
Put them in this bag,...
and follow me into the next room.
If there's anything else
that need be said,
we can talk about it
in the morning.

These are beautiful. I may break down and buy a copy or two of the books Chan has stashed away... I wish it was poem-on-your-blog day more often, it's so great to find new poems, especially as everyone posting one chose theirs for a reason.
