across the fold

Magritte's - this is not a pipe

Francois is playing a game and using this blog as the playing field.

Take one point in a series of entries. Map it onto another point in the same series of entries. Like a crease in origami. Like this-day-in-history exercises.
Fivecats seems concerned that he is a "blog stalker". Bwah ha ha. It brings to mind the notion that there is no me there. No sense of any kind of physical danger - at least in this case. (But thanks for the concern).

In fact, as Francois goes through this exercise there is less of me there. These posts are not Elouise any more than a painting is a pipe.

In the process of critique the object becomes further objectified. Like when one goes to a movie, one experiences it. In the process of analysis, it moves from the sensory wash to another part of the brain where the rational lives.

There is the writer at the moment of posting, the words that suggest the writer, then there is the scrutiny of the words that is filtered through someone else's perception of the writing. At the end, the writer is several times removed from the immediacy of experience.

When I am pinned and wriggling on the wall,
Then how should I begin
To spit out all the butt-ends of my days and ways?
But this is an intellectual exercise. Posts as dyptychs. The negative space of decreasing size as the posts approach the fold. Any two things juxtasposed to one another have a relationship.

As anyone who knows me will be glad to tell you, I am not an intellectual. But after reading so many posts from one lately (here in the commentspace of your web writings) I have decided I can play one here in your blog.
---------------------------------------

Inspired by the unsensical writings turning up in this space I have been uninspired to conduct my own useless research of the words you are making public.

To this end I set up my typewriter next to my computer and spent the last several days typing out all your entries onto sheets of Neenah Papers' Classic Laid Ivorystone.

My next step was to count the number of times you used each word you used in your blog. I carefully ruled out a column for each new instance of a word and used matchstick marks to note each reoccurence of a word.

My purpose in this was to crack the code that Elouise is using in her blog to surreptitiously relate her real feelings (even if she doesn't know what they are, I will tell her).

At first the meanings weren't apparent, but I persevered and believe I have found some quite unvaluable information that I cannot be stopped from sharing.

I was shocked to find that the three words "a", "an", and "the" turned up so many times (I have not finished making all my columns yet so I don't have a final tally of the words. I have decided not to let that stop my pontification, however - onward)

I felt there must be something folded into the unfolding nature of the fold around which these words were foaled, so I used this as the starting point for my riff.

So far, at least one of these three words have appeared in every post (again, my analysis is not finished so there may be some posts that do not use any of these words. However, that would make my findings even more (or less) significant).

This seems to establish a relationship between ALL the posts and I find that interesting (see F's rift on "interesting").

Now that I have established that there is something alphabetical in nature tying these posts together, I decided to map that onto something else that ties them all together - Elousie's life. It seemed a natural as well as a logical mapping.

I will start with "a". It is the first letter we write when we map out our alphabet. "A" - alpha - alphabet - Alphabets cereal - serial port of a computer - Elouise works with computers - Elouise is the alpha child of her parents - her parents are Filipino - The Phillipines are a group of islands - The Faroe Islands are a group of islands. That's when it hit me. Elouise Oyzon - her initals are EO.

I reversed that to see what her mirror image would be and came up with OE. Having been an avid crossword puzzle and Scrabble player I instantly recognized that oe is a Faroe Island whirlwind. Coincidence? Not likely.

This maps nicely to Weez's mirror image as a whirlwind of creativity and rebirth - like tipping an x on its side and getting a +. Keep rolling it along and you get X+X+X+X+X+X+X. This reminds me of a fence, the one tht Elouise uses, not to keep us out of her life, but rather the blog fence that she uses to keep us in her life. We just can't seem to get out. We are imprisoned with her but is it really a prison if you like being there?

Anyway, oe is also Scottish for "grandchild". I beleive, though I have not personally discussed it with her, that EO is, indeed, a grandchild.

So, we have EO -> OE -> Faroe Island Whirlwind-> grandchild. Assuredly this is NO coincidence. And this NO maps nicley to the Xs I have already mentioned as well as to other entries that F has pointed out.

The next word I looked at (this maps nicely to the "looking, looking") was "an".

Down south the word aunt is pronounced ant in many places. "An" forces me to riff on "aunt". EO's children have an aunt named Elaine who often posts here as nain. If we take "an" and reverse it (this maps nicley to the polar reversals that have taken place in the earth's history) we arrive at "na". Down south NA is a colloquial word used to repsond in the negative (Wanna go spit some t'baccy? Na...)

This negative mirror image maps nicley to the other negative references referred to in the references to other posts. "Na" is also the first two letters of "nain". Antoher coincidence? Perhaps if it were not EO writing these words, but given that nain is her sister, there has to be that connection.

So, NA + IN = NAIN. This could be taken as the negative NA meaning not to go IN. Nain = Don't go in. (note that the + sign again maps nicely to the other + signs previously mentioned afore).

Now, if we take the second word, "an", and the third word, "the" and combine them we get "anthe", or an anthem without the "m". (Our national anthem does not have an "m" in its title - coincidence?) When I anagrammed "anthe", I got "neath" and "thane".

Is it not curious that a thane is a feudal lord or baron in Scotland - and presumably a grandchild (or oe) as well? And that feudal sounds like futile and often some of the writings in this webspace have no hint of futility?

Well, the boys will be getting off the bus in a minute, so I will stop now. Please know that I will continue without relent in posting more of mty fascinating findings as I delve ever deeper into the Elouise Code.

Gerald...not only do you clearly have far too much time on your hands, but I am guessing you are the originator of that silly 9/11 email message that circled the world? You know the one I mean..."george.w.bush has 11 letters......."

Now that is THAT funny! (See Elouise's comments at/in/under the Damage Control entry).

After reading that wonderful parody, I am willing to bet that -g. can dance too!

If I stop laughing I might continue
If I stop laughing I might not continue
If I don't stop laughing... I am going to have serious bladder control challenges.

-g. has set a new standard for prose and close reading Chez Weez. hip hip hippeeeee

This maps nicely to a quote in this very entry by EO - "Bwah ha ha".

It also brings to mind a song I heard sung by Rod Stewart (which is a reminder of other postings in this space) entitled, "Every Picture Tells A Story".

The line I remember is, "Look how wrong you can be".

Watch -g. dance. Dance -g. dance!

- g . (the stretch warm up)

-g. [-g.] ~~~} -g. (take a step to right)

- - g . . (put you hand on your hips)

''-.g'' (bring your knees in tight)

-g. (.g- -g. .g-) ~~~} -g. (do the pelvic thrust....)

%Let's do the timewarp again.%

I'm sure the students in E's animation classes could make the -g. dance and flip and twirl to many a tune including Swan Lake.

And I'm sure Lomy is an old general specializing in camouflage. More like a Mad Hatter Tea Party. One can image the social column write up: Lomy@oyzon.com wore a tasteful ~ tilde~ dress ...
