Mine.
Mine. Mine. Mine. Mine. Mine. Mine. Mine. Mine. Mine. Mine. Mine. Mine.
Last night was the first night all three boys stayed with J. I'd watch the clock and think ...
They're brushing their teeth.
It's story time.
Will they sing to J instead?
But these were idle thoughts. Mostly I wandered around the house and cleaned, schlepped, and cleaned some more...oh, and played WeBoggle whenever i got overwhelmed.
And so with great determination slept in the middle of the bed.
When I awoke, I was still there.
Mine.
Posted by weez at May 6, 2004 09:40 AM | TrackBackHi,
I haven't thought about it before just now but I haven't even thought about sleeping anywhere but "my" side of the bed, even though that doesn't mean anything anymore. For the first year, her side of the bed was used to hold piles of the girls folded clean clothes waiting to be put away. Now it just sits there empty, waiting to be slept on. Maybe I'll try that sometime soon. Sleep in the middle, maybe even sleep on the other side, her side.
Or maybe not. Maybe it's time to get a new bed, this one is the water bed we got to replace our original bed we bought almost 25 years ago.
I can't think mine, it's still ours.
Posted by: Rod K at May 6, 2004 11:09 AMNew beds are good. New sheets and moving the bed to the other side of the room all works pretty well too.
Good on ya, Weez.
Posted by: Jill at May 6, 2004 02:13 PMNew sheets-yeah!! And towels!!! And flowers by the bed. Spring, what an apt time for transition - the time of choosing seeds, envisioning their growth and blooming. This is your bloom time, Weez. Spring is also the time of thunder showers, and tornadoes (well at least in the midwest!) - big weather, big changes. It's all seasonal! Be like water and flow! Blessings on ya, Phoenix
Posted by: Phoenix at May 6, 2004 05:13 PMI did buy flowers on the way home. Actually (as I look at the time) about the time you were posting your comment, Phoenix.
Scary.
So this compunction to buy new linens and towels isn't strange? Because that's exactly what I've been doing.
Posted by: weez at May 6, 2004 05:47 PMCompunction to buy new linens and towels: not strange at all (Personally I would not think it strange if you felt you had to buy a few new pairs of shoes... I've done both. And by the way, I've slept in the middle of the bed for close to two years now. It's great. I'm thinking, new mate will have to get new bed. It's odd though that for nighttime reading I move religiously to "my side." And then I move to the middle to sleep.) But seriously, I think new bedlinen is normal. Bedlinen is so intimate. And besides, any things symbolize connections, places in life, states of mind - why not acknowledge the changes with a change of things too? And I concur with Jill - moving furniture around is also highly appropriate...
